Itinerary

Chiang Rai → Laos Border Control and Immigration Office

Pickup Morning: 05:00–05:30 AM or Afternoon: 02:00–02:30 PM

  • Please select your preferred departure time when booking.
  • Our shared air-conditioned van will pick you up from your hotel or designated meeting point in Chiang Rai.
  • Travel approximately 1.30-2 hrs. from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong Border.
  • Upon arrival at the Thai border, you will leave the van and continue by the official cross-border bus.
  • The bus crosses the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge No. 4 from Chiang Khong, Thailand to Huay Xai, Laos.
  • The official cross-border bus ticket is included in this option.
  • After crossing the bridge, the service ends at the:
  • Laos Border Control and Immigration Office
  • You will then complete the Laos immigration and visa formalities independently.
  • Estimated Travel Time Approximately 2.00-02.30 hours, For private transfers, please depart early to ensure you cross the border before it closes at 8:00 PM. Shared shuttles may wait for additional passengers before departure.

Visa Information

  •  Travellers are responsible for checking the latest Lao visa and entry requirements for their nationality.
  • Visa on Arrival may be available for eligible nationalities.
  • The Lao Visa on Arrival fee as approximately 1,800–2,000 THB or USD 40, payable in cash.If paying in US dollars, bring clean, undamaged notes in good condition
  •  A passport photograph may be required for Visa on Arrival. Photo services 100 THB  at the border for an additional fee.
  • Additional immigration, tourist or border fees may apply  70-100 THB .
  •  Lao eVisa is accepted at Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge No. 4 (Bokeo). 
  •  Lao eVisa applications normally take around 3 working days to process, but processing may take longer. We recommend applying at least 1 week before travel and ensuring that your eVisa has been approved no later than 1 day before departure.
  • Travellers using an eVisa should carry a printed copy of the eVisa approval Letter when travelling.

 

Apply for Lao eVisa – Official Government Website

  • Important: Entry into Laos is subject to approval by Lao Immigration. Each traveller is responsible for holding a valid passport, visa or eVisa approval, and all other required travel documents.

Each ticket includes:

  • One bag up to 20 inches; or

  • One backpack per person

Oversized or additional luggage is charged at 200 THB per item, payable directly to the driver on the travel day.

Please declare all luggage when booking. Unregistered or unpaid oversized luggage may not be accepted if there is insufficient space in the vehicle.

 

  • Our driver will contact you one day in advance before departure. 
  • With your permission, we may request your photo and share your contact details with the driver for easy identification and smooth communication.

Thailand Side – Private Transfer

Our Thai driver will pick you up in a private vehicle and take you to the Chiang Khong border. You will then cross the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge by shared shuttle bus.

Laos Side – Private Transfer

After clearing Lao immigration, our Laos team will meet you with a different private driver and vehicle and take you directly to your drop-off location in Huay Xai.

Note: Private drivers and vehicles are provided separately on both sides. Only the bridge crossing is shared.
