Where does the trip begin and what's included?
The trip begins in Chiang Rai with hotel pick-up. It includes transfer to Huay Xai, 1-night accommodation, boat ticket, lunch, and entrance to Pak Ou Caves.
Is there staff to help with the border crossing?
Yes. Our team will assist you at both Thai and Lao immigration checkpoints.
What hotel is included in Huay Xai?
A clean and safe hotel with breakfast included, located near the boat pier.
How are rooms arranged during the trip?
🛏 One room is shared by 2 guests.
If you prefer a private room, you can request a single room for an extra 1,000 THB.
If you’re booking as a pair, we will arrange for you to stay together.
Unless otherwise specified, the default room setup is twin beds (2 single beds).
Is lunch included on the boat?
Yes. A lunch box and drinking water are included in the package.
🍱 Our standard lunch does not contain peanuts.
🌱 Vegetarian meals (J) are available upon request — please let us know in advance.
What documents should I bring?
A valid passport and cash for Lao visa-on-arrival and documentation fee.
Can children join this trip?
Yes. Infants (0–2 years) are free (1,200 THB documentation fee applies). Children aged 3+ are charged the regular rate.
Is there a toilet on board?
Yes, our boat has a clean onboard toilet for your comfort.
Is travel insurance included?
Basic accident insurance is included. However, we recommend arranging your own travel insurance for full coverage (e.g. medical, delays, lost items).

🗓️ Itinerary
Day 1: Chiang Rai – Chiang Khong – Huay Xai
🕑 02:00–02:30 PM – Begin your Chiang Rai to Luang Prabang slow boat adventure with a hotel pick-up in Chiang Rai 🚐.
🕑 04.00 PM – arrival at our office near the Chiang Khong border, our team will assist you with visa documents and border preparation.
🛂 Travelers with eVisa are still required to pass immigration together as a group. A Laos tourist tax of approx. 70–100 THB applies.
🏨 🕑 05. 00 PM – entering Laos, our local team will transfer you to your hotel in Huay Xai, where you’ll stay overnight before the scenic boat journey the next day.
Day 2: Huay Xai – Mekong River – Luang Prabang
🕢 06.40-07.10 AM – Hotel pick-up and transfer to the boat pier.
🛥️ 08:00 AM – Board the slow boat to Luang Prabang and enjoy a peaceful 7-hour cruise.
Along the journey, you’ll experience river life and lush landscapes along the Mekong 🌿.
🛕 Stop at Pak Ou Caves (approx. 40 minutes) – a sacred limestone cave filled with thousands of Buddha images.
🏁 By 05.00 -06.00 PM, arrive at Luang Prabang pier and enjoy a free transfer to your hotel , completing your Chiang Rai to Luang Prabang slow boat journey.
